THE CREATOR GOD
Genesis1:1-25
Key verse1:1

1.        Memorize 1:1. Who was "in the beginning"? What does this mean? When and how were the heavens and the earth created? What did God do?



2.        Read verse 2. What was the state of things before God spoke? What does it mean that the earth was formless, empty and dark? How was the Spirit of God involved in the Creation?



3.        By what instrument did God create the world? What do you find in the phrases "and God said...and it was so"? What does this say about God and his word?



4.        Notice other repeated phrases: "According to their kinds", "and God saw that it was good", etc. What do these phrases tell us about God? About the world he created?



5.        What did God create on the first day? Why do you think God created light first?


6.        What do you find in the relationship between the first three days of creation and the last three days? What can you learn from this about God the Creator?  About the world he created?


7.        What can you learn about God's sovereignty from this passage? How can we live truly happy and meaningful lives?

Genesis3:1-24

1.        Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a member of the Sanhedrin. In what sense was he a successful man? Why had Nicodemus come to Jesus? What does it mean when Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again"? (3)

4.        Read verses 16-18.  How did Jesus show his truth and his spiritual love? Read verses 19-24.  Why did she call him a prophet and ask about the place of worship?

2.        Read verses 4-6a. How did the religious leaders try to trap Jesus? What does this tell us about them?



3.        When they pressed him, how did he expose their sins? (7,8) What did Jesus know about her accusers? (9, Ro 3:10) What must we do before condemning others? (Mt 7:1-5) Who had the right to condemn her? (Heb 4:15, Jn 5:22)




4.        What did he ask her? (10) How did he save her and help her begin a new life? (11) What does this show about Jesus? (Gal 3:13, Ro 8:1,2)

Matthew28:1-20
Key verse28:6

1.        Read verse 1. Who was Mary Magdalene? (Mk 16:9; Lk 8:2; Mt 27:56; Mk 15:40) Why did she go to look at the tomb? Think about how she felt.




2.        Read verses 2-7. What happened as the two women arrived? Describe the angel. What happened to the guards? Why? See Acts 2:23,24. What does this event reveal about the Creator God? What was the angel's message of good news?





3.        What mission did the angel (7), and later, Jesus (10) give the woman?  Why must the resurrection message be shared? Read verses 8-10.  When the woman ran to obey what happened? Why is it important to meet Jesus? How can we?




4.        Read verses 11-15. How and why did the religious leaders try to suppress the news of Jesus' resurrection? What does this prove?





5.        Read verses 16-20. Where did the disciples meet Jesus? What mission did Jesus give his doubtful, fearful disciples? By what authority? (Php 2:8-11) What does it mean to make disciples? What promise did he give them?

Mark8:27-38

1.        Where did Jesus and his disciples go from there? (27a) What were Jesus¡¯ first and second questions? (27-29) What kind of answer did this question require? How did Peter answer?  What does ¡°the Christ¡± mean? (Jn 1:3-4)



2.        Why is it important to confess one¡¯s faith in Christ? (Ro10:10) After hearing Peter¡¯s confession, what did Jesus teach his disciples?  How would Jesus become the Messiah? (31; Isa 53:4,5; Ac 2:24)

4.        What happened when Simon obeyed Jesus? Why did Jesus want to restore his failure? What did Simon realize about himself through this event? (8) What did he mean by saying, "I am a sinful man?" Why did he say, "Go away from me, Lord"?





5.        Read verses 9-11. What new life direction did Jesus give Simon? How did this give him new life? What does "from now on you will catch men" mean? How did Simon and his companions respond? What was Jesus' purpose in calling them?
